About Jean Ann

Jean Ann Mayberry has spent her lifetime loving reading, writing, photography and color—and believed now was the perfect time to pull it all together along with her experiences of heartache, heartbreak, happiness and joy in this book of devotions.

She has been published in Christian devotional books, non-profit newsletters, event tabloids, and has had two newspaper columns prior to becoming an author. She worked in special events, advertising, marketing, public relations, as a director of advertising and special projects for a movie theater chain, a Main Street program, and tourism program.

Jean Ann began her career as a floral designer at age eighteen, she owned her own flower shop by age thirty-two. Opportunities were numerous—she became a Certified European Floral Designer, Presidential Inauguration Designer, a member of the American Institute of Floral Designers, Teacher of Design and Color, and an award-winning designer and commentator.

Living south-to-north and coast-to-coast, has given Jean Ann an appreciation of the many differences we each have, but even more, how very much we are alike. An avid reader, she has a book in hand most of the time, especially when traveling.

First, she loves The Lord with all her heart and strives to glorify Him. Jean Ann has been married to her high school sweetheart, Dan Mayberry, for over fifty years. They are growing old together with a belief that the best is yet to come. After moving numerous times, they now reside in Timothy, Tennessee, his home state, with five dogs and five horses.

Her path has been well-marked with the Lord’s presence in her life, taught by her loving parents, and grandparents.  Her joy comes from her daughter with wings, two loving sons, their spouses, their beautiful grand and great grandchildren.

Jean Ann is blessed with family, friends, and her loving church family. As well, she trail-rides and horse-camps with girlfriends, the Bandy Creek Babes. Support and love from The Magnificent Seven and her Cosmic Kin Cathy—many miles apart, yet never far away.

Come Aboard!

“Look Up! Look at the ceiling,” said the visiting Pastor to the worshipers at our church. I had looked often at the beautiful, perfectly designed arches holding the ceiling up. The arches give a frame to the amazing stain glass of Jesus at the front alter. Pastor continued, “have you noticed how the rows of arches appear like the hull, the inside of a ship? Now imagine we are in that hull. The ceiling above tells me we are all in this boat together.”

What boat? Is it the boat of life, the boat of faith, or companionship, the boat of love or hurt? What happens when we are alone in the boat? Or all together in the storms? I had not thought of it as a boat, a different perspective. Life is filled with new awakenings.

I hope you will join me as I put forth some thoughts on a regular basis through my website and blog, such as this article, with opportunity to add your perspective. We learn from studying God’s word but we also learn from each other. I cannot help being reminded of the TV show Love Boat, yes, the song I can’t get out of my head right now.  Words from the theme song; Love is exciting and new. Come aboard, we are expecting you. Love – Life’s sweetest reward. Let it flow. It floats back to you. Love, something for everyone.

All Aboard!

Grow

The tomato plant has one green tomato, another plant beautiful, tall foliage with buds, but no tomatoes. The green beans have funny looking leaves, shriveled and curled with no beans. The peppers have produced a small harvest, only four jalapenos on one and six on the yellow.  I planted zinnia seeds twice with nothing. So, …

The Storm

In the last few days, I have felt as though we are unable to escape deep heartache. The storms in the south causing deadly tornadoes, a whole town almost obliterated. Certainly, the families who are left to pick up the pieces, are scared from loss.  I believe the mind has a very difficult time wrapping …

Steely Skies

Swimming as fast as I can to break through this steely gray embracing me, I see no clear outlet. I must break free, from the sand sinking around me. A flash of memory pops up from who knows where. My feet are planted in the sand as the tide rolls in, returning to the sea …
